Job summary

AHR is seeking a Senior Architectural Technician to join our creative team in Shrewsbury or Birmingham. The role involves managing production information, producing drawing packages, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring compliance with design and building regulations for healthcare and education projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years post-qualification experience, strong Revit skills, and a solid knowledge of UK construction law. Hybrid working and clear progression paths are offered.

Qualifications

  • 10 years post-qualification experience in healthcare, DfE schools or high-density residential settings.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and detailing.
  • Structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day job running during production information and site stages under supervision.
  • Produce effective working drawing packages with minimal supervision.
  • Advise on environmental and building regulatory requirements affecting the project.
  • Understand current and future fire regulations.
  • Advise on materials and maintain buildability awareness.
  • Carry out Designer Risk Assessments (CDM).
  • Coordinate with other consultants and stakeholders, disseminate information to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with design, legal, statutory and professional requirements.
  • Coordinate detailed design information and liaise with authorities for approvals.
  • Utilize latest Revit Level 2 BIM processes and provide COBie data.
  • Source technical information and contribute to QA procedures.

About You

With a proven track record as a Technician with 10 years post qualification experience and you will have sound knowledge of construction and detailing. Your structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making will complement your ability to work with minimum supervision as a collaborative team member.

Your Skills And Experience
  • Relevant degree, HNC/HND or BTEC
  • A minimum of 10 years experience working in healthcare, DfE schools and high density residential settings
  • Highly proficient in Revit with continual use in practice as the primary design/delivery tool
  • Expert knowledge of UK Construction and Building Law
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for day to day job running during production information and site stages under the supervision of a Project Director
  • Produce effective working drawing packages with the minimum of supervision
  • Advise on environmental and building regulatory requirements affecting the project
  • A good understanding of current and future fire regulations
  • Advise on materials
  • Carry out Designer Risk Assessments (CDM)
  • Co-ordinate with other consultants/colleagues, disseminate information to team members and negotiate with statutory bodies
  • Ensure compliance with design, legal, statutory and professional requirements
  • Co-ordinate detailed design information
  • Liaise with and produce documentation for statutory and local approval authorities
  • Use latest Revit Level 2 BIM processes
  • Able to provide COBie data
  • Source technical information, buildability awareness, carry out Health and Safety Risk assessments, prepare tender reports and recommendations, carry out measured surveys and implement and work to QA procedures
