Job summary

Harrison in Birmingham seeks a Senior Architectural Technician to join our team and manage a range of day‑to‑day tasks related to building design and detailing. A BSc Architectural Technology Degree or equivalent is required.

You will produce AutoCAD drawings, uphold our standards, and contribute to client liaison, design development, and project governance across a variety of projects. This role emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Harrison construction standards and related processes to maintain and grow the company’s technical credibility with clients.
• Develop understanding of Harrison design culture by working with team members across the company.
• Act as project Architectural Technician for strategically important projects, including new brands or clients.
• Be responsible with the project designer for building design, detailing, local authority negotiation, liaison with consultants and clients, and overall team accountability.
• Produce AutoCAD drawings as directed by the Team Manager, adhering to company methods, numbering and filing systems, and standards for Senior Architectural Designer/Technician.
• Contribute to budgetary control of projects with the team.
• Develop projects from briefing to completion, coordinating with the Team Manager and Lead Designer on task allocation.
• Assist in maintaining and developing existing clients through project-specific contact.
• Take on the role of site supervising officer on selected projects, varying by project type (design-led or build-led).
• Assist in training and developing Junior Technicians and supervising their work.
• Pursue ongoing development of AutoCAD implementation to increase productivity across the practice.
• Share skills and knowledge across the company.

Harrison is looking for a Senior Architectural Technician to join our Birmingham team and manage a range of day-to-day tasks which are outlined below.BSc Architectural Technology Degree or similar equivalent required.

• To develop and implement Harrison construction standards and related processes in order to maintain and grow the company’s credibility in the technical aspect of our work with the client.
• To develop your understanding of Harrison design culture by working with other members of the team and company.
• To act as project Architectural Technician, being principally targeted towards projects which have a particular strategic importance as a new brand or for a new client.
• To be responsible, in conjunction with the project designer, for the building design and detailing, local authority negotiation, liaison with other consultants, liaison with client, and overall team accountability in these areas.
• To produce AutoCAD drawings as specified by your Team Manager, complying with the company’s methods, numbering and filing system, and to the standards expected of a Senior Architectural Designer and Technician.
• To work, with other team members, on the budgetary control of projects.
• To work with other team members in the development of projects from briefing to completion, liaising with the Team Manager (and the Lead Designer where appropriate) agreeing with team members their specific tasks and responsibilities on a project-by-project bases.
• To assist in maintaining and developing existing clients through project specific contact.
• To assume the role of site supervising officer on specific projects, varying in accordance with project type. i.e. design led or build led.
• To assist in the training and development of Junior Technicians, supervising their work and aiding with skill growth.
• Ongoing development of the implementation of AutoCAD products in order to increase the productivity and efficiency of the practice.
• Share skills and knowledge company wide.
