Job summary

A Manchester-based architectural practice is seeking a talented Architect/Project Architect to join their team, with scope to take on Principal Designer responsibilities across a varied portfolio.

Revit experience is essential and the role requires strong design delivery, coordination with clients, consultants and contractors, and mentoring junior team members.

Ideal candidates will have UK experience, knowledge of RIBA stages and a proactive approach to design risk management.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Architect with relevant UK experience.
  • Strong Revit skills are essential.
  • Experience carrying out Principal Designer responsibilities is desirable.
  • Good understanding of design risk management and the responsibilities of the Principal Designer.
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction, detailing and technical design.
  • Experience across RIBA stages; civ/justice-sector experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to projects through design development, technical design and delivery.
  • Coordinate health and safety as Principal Designer throughout the design process.
  • Identify and communicate design risks with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate design team with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Develop detailed design information using Revit.
  • Prepare and review technical information, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Own project packages, manage deadlines, quality and coordination.
  • Attend client, consultant and project meetings.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Job description

An established and growing architectural practice in Manchester is looking for a talented Architect / Project Architect to join their team, with the opportunity to take on Principal Designer responsibilities across a range of projects.

The practice works across a varied portfolio, with particular strengths in justice, public sector, commercial, residential and heritage. This is an excellent opportunity for an Architect who enjoys both design and technical delivery and is looking to take greater responsibility for project coordination and design risk management.

Revit experience is essential, while experience working on courts, prisons or wider justice-sector projects would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to projects through design development, technical design and delivery.
  • Take responsibility for Principal Designer duties, coordinating health and safety considerations throughout the design process.
  • Identify, manage and communicate design risks, ensuring appropriate information is shared with relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate the design team and work closely with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Develop and coordinate detailed design information using Revit.
  • Prepare and review technical information, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Take ownership of project packages, managing deadlines, quality and coordination.
  • Attend client, consultant and project meetings.
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team.
