Job summary

McGonigle McGrath in Belfast currently seeks an experienced Architect to provide maternity leave cover for one year (Dec 2026–Dec 2027), full-time. The role involves overseeing multiple projects across RIBA stages, with on-site responsibilities and potential extension.

You will lead the design process, collaborate with clients, engineers and construction teams, and ensure high-quality delivery in line with the practice ethos. UK experience and on-site job running are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Qualified Architect with UK registration
• Experience delivering projects in the UK up to RIBA Stages 4+
• Strong design ability and interest in high quality architecture
• Good communication, presentation and drawing skills
• Thorough knowledge of NI/UK Building Regulations
• Experience of job running during construction stages
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Oversee projects at varying RIBA stages including Stage 4+
• Step into contract administrator role on-site
• Lead design process and ensure high quality delivery
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, cost consultants and construction teams
• Demonstrate leadership and project management skills
• Experience with bespoke domestic projects is advantageous
