Job summary

Crux Product Design is seeking a Senior Applied Sciences Engineer to lead CFD/FEA simulations and guide a small team on challenging medical device projects. You will apply Star-CCM+ for CFD and Abaqus for FEA, delivering validated results and engineering insights across multiple product domains.

The role requires hands-on modelling, prototyping, DOE, and strong CAD capabilities, with a focus on client communication and technical leadership within theApplied Sciences group.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Proficient in CAD for design, modelling and drawings.
• Strong computational modelling skills in CFD/FEA (STAR-CCM+ and Abaqus).
• Coding experience with Python or Matlab for data analysis and automation.
• Hands-on experience with experimental testing, prototyping and DOE.
• Proven problem-solving and proactive approach to complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent communication and client-facing experience.
• Experience mentoring and reviewing junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead CFD simulations and FEA studies using Star-CCM+ and Abaqus.
• Demonstrate mathematical modelling and simulation expertise across projects.
• Prototype, test and design experiments to validate solutions.
• Use CAD to generate concepts, detailed designs and drawings.
• Prepare technical reports and design documentation.
• Communicate project value to clients and stakeholders.
• Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead a team of Applied Sciences engineers to realise solutions.
