Job summary

Answer Digital is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to shape and deliver AI-powered solutions across large-scale client projects in Leeds. You will design production-grade LLM systems, make production-ready architectural decisions, and build evaluation harnesses to prove system viability before going live.

You will also work closely with clients in discovery workshops, translate their needs into concrete backlogs, and mentor mid-level engineers as the AI capability grows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with production LLM systems and measurable impact.
• Deep knowledge of RAG design, latency, cost, and prompt versioning.

Responsibilities

• Design and build LLM-based applications: RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, structured generation, evaluation frameworks
• Make architectural decisions for production: chunking strategy, retrieval design, model selection, observability, cost
• Build evaluation harnesses to prove system readiness and maintain performance post-live
• Engage with clients in discovery workshops, scoping sessions and delivery to translate needs into backlogs
• Mentor mid-level engineers in the Engineering Community as AI capability grows
• Pair with pre-sales on bids and respond to public sector procurements
