Senior Applied AI Engineer - London - £150-190k

Location: Central London (minimum 3 days per week in the office)

Salary: Up to £190,000 base salary + 20% bonus + comprehensive benefits package

A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Full Stack Applied AI Engineer.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of Generative AI, Agentic AI and Large Language Models, building end-to-end AI-native applications that solve real business problems. You'll take concepts from ideation through rapid prototyping and help shape the technical foundations of solutions that ultimately scale into enterprise production environments.

The Role

As a Senior Full Stack Applied AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and deploying innovative AI-powered applications across the full technology stack. You'll combine hands‑on software engineering expertise with deep knowledge of modern AI frameworks, LLMs and agent technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Take concepts from problem statement through to working proof‑of‑concept and production‑ready prototypes.
• Design and build AI-native applications leveraging LLMs, agents and multimodal AI frameworks.
• Develop and orchestrate agentic workflows using the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol.
• Design and implement Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, Vector Search solutions and agent memory management.
• Deploy and manage AI agents using Google's managed agent runtime and foundation models including Gemini and Claude.
• Build intuitive front‑end applications using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js or Svelte.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs and orchestration layers supporting AI applications.
• Design and manage data solutions across SQL, NoSQL and vector database platforms.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can deliver measurable value.
• Evaluate AI models, platforms, frameworks and third‑party tools based on capability, cost, latency, security and maintainability.
• Conduct model benchmarking, technical assessments and framework evaluations.

Required Experience

• Proven experience designing, building and deploying Applied AI or Generative AI solutions.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Large Language Models, AI agents and modern orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working with Google Cloud AI technologies, particularly Gemini‑based solutions.
• Strong Python development skills, with TypeScript experience highly desirable.
• Full stack development experience, with a particular strength in backend engineering and API development.
• Experience building applications using React, Next.js, Svelte or similar modern front‑end technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, NoSQL and vector databases including technologies such as Postgres and Firestore.
• Experience implementing RAG solutions, prompt engineering and model evaluation frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
