Job summary

Aviva is seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to lead the technical design and delivery of complex AI solutions and AI agents within a defined business domain. This hands‑on senior role combines advanced AI expertise with technical leadership, owning design, build and deployment of LLM‑powered systems in a regulated financial services environment.

You will work with product and business stakeholders, set technical quality standards, mentor engineers and contribute to Aviva's engineering

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Senior AI Engineer, Senior Machine Learning Engineer or equivalent.
Advanced experience designing, building and deploying production‑grade AI systems.
Strong hands‑on experience with LLM‑powered applications and AI agents.
Excellent Python and software engineering skills, with experience in cloud environments.
Practical expertise in context engineering, prompt/context pipelines, agent orchestration and retrieval strategies.
Experience designing AI architectures balancing performance, scalability, cost and reliability.
Experience with AI evaluation for quality, safety and production readiness.
Experience implementing monitoring and observability for AI systems.
Strong production engineering practices including testing, deployment, observability and incident response.
Experience owning AI solutions from design to production and continuous improvement.
Ability to choose frameworks, tools and approaches for delivering AI solutions.
Experience identifying and managing technical and model risks with governance channels.
Strong understanding of responsible AI principles, fairness and data protection.
Experience in regulated environments and related requirements.
Ability to trade off delivery speed, model performance and cost.
Experience providing technical leadership through mentoring and code reviews.
Strong collaboration across product, business, engineering, risk and compliance teams.
Excellent communication to explain complex technical decisions to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Comfortable with autonomy and ownership of complex delivery outcomes.
Experience contributing to engineering standards and reusable patterns.
