Job summary

HCLTech in the United Kingdom is seeking an L2 Senior Application Infrastructure Patch Management Engineer to own patching across web servers, app servers, and middleware. You will design runbooks, automate workflows, and ensure alignment with vulnerability management and change control.

You will lead patch testing, coordinate with DBAs, and drive patch SLAs while mentoring L1 analysts and enforcing CMDB accuracy.

Qualifications

Experience in enterprise patch management across multiple tiers.
Ability to design runbooks and automation for patch workflows.
Strong collaboration with security, DBAs and development teams.
Proven documentation and change-management discipline.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end patching for web servers, application servers, and middleware across on-prem and cloud environments.
Own the Java / JDK / JRE version management strategy across the application estate.
Assess vendor CVEs and security bulletins; drive patch prioritisation using CVSS and criticality.
Develop and maintain patching runbooks, rollback procedures, and post-validation scripts.
Automate patching workflows using Ansible, Python, or shell scripting; integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
Lead patch testing in non-production environments; validate application behaviour post-patch.
Coordinate with DBA teams for database patching and ensure compatibility.
Act as L2 escalation for patch-related issues and CMDB accuracy.
Integrate patch compliance data with vulnerability management tools and SIEM dashboards.
Drive SLA adherence: Critical patches within 72 hours post-approval.
