Job summary

Chroma Recruitment is seeking a Senior Android Engineer (Contractor) to work from Manchester city centre with a hybrid pattern: 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. You will join a fast-moving team delivering a major customer proposition, focusing on Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture.

The role targets a strong engineer capable of designing, building, testing, and refining Android experiences, while contributing to a design system and reusable components.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Android development experience, Senior Engineer level or above.
• Excellent Kotlin knowledge and modern Android practices.
• Experience with multi-module clean architecture.
• Proficient in Jetpack Compose for UI.
• Experience with automated testing and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Android experiences for a new customer-facing proposition.
• Evolve a reusable UI components library and patterns.
• Improve test suites and remove brittle tests to boost release confidence.
• Address technical debt and simplify the application where possible.
• Contribute to architecture, performance, and coding standards.
