A leading consumer brand is expanding its mobile engineering team and seeks a Senior Android Engineer to shape high-traffic Android products. You’ll design, implement and evolve features, mentor teammates and help raise engineering standards in a large mobile group.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design and Backend teams, own features end-to-end, and contribute to architecture decisions, testing and CI/CD practices. Hybrid role based in the Birmingham area with three days on site.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Android experience using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Proficiency with MVVM, Clean Architecture and modularisation patterns.
• Experience with Coroutines/Flow and DI frameworks (Hilt/Dagger).
• Solid unit and UI testing, and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
• Git-based workflows and code reviews in collaborative teams.

We're working with a well-known consumer brand that is investing heavily in its mobile engineering function and looking to add a Senior Android Engineer to the team.

This is a hands-on senior role where you’ll be building and evolving high-traffic Android products, contributing to technical direction and helping raise engineering standards across a large mobile team.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, QA and other mobile engineers, with plenty of scope to get involved in architecture, technical decision-making and mentoring less experienced developers.

What you’ll be doing

• Building and evolving native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
• Contributing to technical design and architecture across the Android platform
• Working with modern patterns including MVVM, Clean Architecture and modularisation
• Owning features from initial design through development, testing and release
• Improving code quality, performance, reliability and maintainability
• Contributing to automated testing and CI/CD practices
• Supporting and mentoring other engineers within the team
• Working cross-functionally with Product, Design, Backend and QA
• Helping shape engineering standards and best practice across mobile

What they’re looking for

You’ll ideally have strong commercial experience with:

• Kotlin
• Jetpack Compose
• MVVM and/or Clean Architecture
• Coroutines / Flow
• Dependency injection such as Hilt or Dagger
• Unit and UI testing
• CI/CD and modern software delivery practices
• Git and code review
• Working within collaborative product engineering teams

Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential.

They’re particularly interested in engineers who are still very hands-on but are comfortable taking ownership, contributing to technical decisions and helping other engineers around them.
