QuEra Computing UK Limited invites an experienced Sr AMO Physicist to join its Harwell, UK operation. The role focuses on designing, implementing and characterizing neutral-atom quantum computing systems within a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers and computer scientists.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in experimental AMO physics with hands-on experience in neutral-atom or trapped-ion platforms and proven research impact. Travel within Europe and the US is expected where needed.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in experimental AMO physics or related field.
• Hands-on experience with neutral atom or trapped ion systems or other quantum hardware platforms is a major asset.
• Proven research output (peer‑reviewed publications and/or talks).
• Experience with gate-based quantum computers is a major asset.
• Willingness to travel within Europe and the US as needed.

Aufgaben

• Assist in constructing a next-generation neutral-atom quantum computer at QuEra UK’s Harwell site.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to verify and validate modules and subsystems.
• Run, calibrate, test and improve QPU operation.
• Investigate noise sources and propose mitigation strategies.
• Analyze experimental data and guide system improvements.
• Stay current with AMO physics and quantum computing advances.
• Engage in collaborations with academic and industry partners.
