Job summary

Essex County Council is offering a Senior Practitioner – AMHP Training Post in a countywide setting. The role is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of £48,205 to £57,988 per annum.

You will join an Out of Hours Emergency Duty Service and work toward becoming an Approved Mental Health Professional under the Mental Health Act (as amended). Applicants must hold a Social Work Degree or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England.

Qualifications

• Social Work Degree or equivalent and registration with Social Work England.
• Commitment to undertaking the full AMHP Programme and qualifying under the 1983 Mental Health Act (as amended).
• Priority given to applicants who have completed Pre-AMHP training recently.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and evaluating referrals and ensuring an appropriate professional response.
• Undertaking assessments under the Mental Health Act once AMHP qualified.
• Carrying out risk assessments for children and young people with reference to Child Protection.
• Attending court, case conferences and Mental Health Tribunals as required.
• Working across the Emergency Duty Service Model and multijurisdictional teams.
