Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP is seeking a Lead Engineer in Manchester to steer technical direction across one or two small teams. You will be a hands-on contributor building AI-enabled solutions, mentoring engineers, and driving delivery quality within a matrix structure embedded in a service line.

You will collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders, setting standards and shaping the GenAI platform’s evolution while balancing technical debt and delivery velocity.

Qualifications

• Written and shipped production-grade software.
• Fluent in AI-native engineering and tooling.
• Ability to translate technical constraints for business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for your team(s) and own the delivery quality.
• Mentor engineers on craft and AI tooling usage.
• Build and maintain integrations, builds, APIs, and infrastructure under GenAI platform.
• Develop systems, tools, and solutions in an AI-native way.
• Represent engineering to senior stakeholders and translate technical design to business needs.
• Keep technical debt visible and delivery pace predictable.
• Contribute to engineering standards across the function.
