Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to design, develop and deploy AI/ML solutions within Azure, shaping public services for residents and delivering meaningful outcomes for Salford.

You will collaborate with the Senior AI/ML Engineer and wider digital teams, contributing across the lifecycle from data preparation to deployment and monitoring, while upholding responsible AI practices and governance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Strong familiarity with Python data tools (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Exposure to cloud-native delivery environments (Azure, MS Power Platform, etc.) with understanding of solution lifecycle management.
• Awareness of data structures, databases, and basic analytics (SQL).
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI/ML solutions within Azure ML and related toolchains.
• Assist with model training, evaluation and deployment using established frameworks.
• Support data preparation, model testing, and monitoring pipelines.
