Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim UK is seeking a senior leader for AI Infrastructure to own the infrastructure strategy for the AI Accelerator. You will oversee compute, storage and platform infrastructure, defining architecture and standards that empower AI scientists and ML teams across CI.

This role is hybrid, combining office presence with strategic leadership of critical platform evolution. You will partner with IT, Data Excellence and cloud providers to ensure cost-effective, portable solutions and

Qualifications

PhD or MSc in STEM required or equivalent experience.
Senior staff-level experience in infrastructure, platform or systems engineering.
Deep expertise in AI compute infra stack: GPU compute, storage, networking, containers (Kubernetes).
Experience with hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures and cost optimisation.
Experience enabling large-scale AI workloads and secure environments.

Responsibilities

Define and evolve a multi-layer reference architecture for storage, compute, environments and platform stack.
Set technical direction, strategy and roadmap for AI infrastructure.
Partner to develop secure Trusted Research Environment for AI workloads.
Shape evolution of enterprise infrastructure to support large-scale AI and portability.
Mentor engineers and act as senior escalation point for infra problems.
