Job summary

Warden AI is hiring a Senior Applied Scientist / Data Scientist to run bias audits of high-stakes AI systems. You will shape evaluation methodology, design audit datasets, and interpret results across startup to enterprise contexts. Strong Python skills and a proven track record in applied statistics are essential.

You will report to the CTO and collaborate with founders and product teams, contributing to a scalable, defensible analytical function as the company grows its AI governance offerings.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a commercial, high-performing product organization doing applied statistics and data science.
• Strong statistical and probabilistic reasoning, with fluency in confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, power analysis, experimental design, causal inference and Bayesian modeling.
• Experience designing evaluation methodologies - including black-box and counterfactual approaches - and datasets behind them.
• Practical familiarity with evaluating AI systems and their failure modes across ML models, LLMs and AI agents.
• Fluency in Python for statistical analysis, data preparation, and reproducible evaluation workflows.
• A rigorous, evidence-driven approach with clear, defensible analyses.
• Comfort with open-ended problems and ability to bring structure where none exists.
• Clear, responsible communication adapted for different audiences and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold rigorous statistical methodology for audits and evaluations.
• Translate regulations and standards into practical test methodologies.
• Design foundations for audit execution, datasets, and test frameworks.
• Analyze and interpret audit results and present actionable insights.
• Support high-stakes conversations with customers’ data science, legal and compliance teams.
• Document and defend methodology in white papers and reports.
