Job summary

Checkout.com is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to drive Generative AI adoption across products and operations. You will mentor peers, define best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deploy AI solutions that enhance payments platforms.

You will architect scalable AI infrastructure, implement secure deployment pipelines, and contribute to strategic AI initiatives within our AI Centre of Excellence. London-based hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with LLMs (GPT, BERT, Llama, Gemini) and applying them to real-world problems.
• Strong backend engineering expertise, including RESTful APIs and micro-services design.
• Proficiency in Python/JavaScript and familiarity with AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, PydanticAI).
• Solid understanding of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Research, validate, and deliver high-impact Generative AI use cases with cross-functional teams.
• Design and build APIs and microservices that integrate AI capabilities into workflows.
• Develop, fine-tune, and deploy LLM-based applications (chatbots, assistants, knowledge extraction).
• Architect scalable AI infrastructure on cloud platforms with containerisation and IaC.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and enforce secure, compliant AI deployment practices.
• Build intuitive interfaces for interacting with AI features.
• Continuously optimise performance, reliability, and scalability of AI systems.
