Job summary

American Express is seeking a Senior AI Engineer – Agentic AI to join our Enterprise Technology Services team in the UK. You will turn complex problems into production-grade agentic systems that work with real financial data and meet regulatory requirements.

You'll shape solutions with product and design, build and ship production code, and own what you deliver after launch, including customer-facing LLM-powered features and internal AI capabilities that empower other engineers to work safely

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with production LLM/ML experience.
• Proven track record shipping AI-powered or agentic systems.
• Strong backend, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infra fundamentals.
• Hands-on with modern LLM tooling and agentic patterns.
• Fluency in AI-assisted and agentic development workflows.
• Strong ownership, judgment, and ability to ship with ambiguity.
• Product-minded with customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Shape end-to-end AI features with product and design teams.
