Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at our Luton site to lead production planning and develop manufacturing processes using ZDM and APQP core tools. You will work on Jet Canopies or Helicopters programs, collaborating across departments to drive operational excellence.

The role requires a minimum HND in engineering, 6Sigma Green Belt, and strong experience in APQP, PFMEA, MSA and CP with a hands-on, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering/Aerospace.
• 6Sigma Greenbelt qualification required or held.
• Experience with APQP standards: PFDA, FMEA, CP, MSA and CP.
• Experience in root-cause analysis using Fishbone diagrams and 5 Whys.
• Proven practical problem-solving using A3 or 8D methodologies.
• Desirable: Lean manufacturing leadership incl. 5S; lay-up processes for composites; interpretation of specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead local project technical aspects for production planning from concept to production.
• Design high-capability manufacturing processes using ZDM tool suite and APQP core tools.
• Develop and document manufacturing processes, SOPs and process specifications.
• Create/update engineering documentation and manage introduction activities.
• Lead improvements to reduce scrap and rework.
• Provide MRB support to review process deviations or faults.
• Present findings to senior stakeholders; communicate clearly to audiences.
• Identify and solve technical problems; establish and improve process controls.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety and Energy procedures.
