A leading technology company in the UK is seeking a Senior Validation Engineer to validate high-speed converters and contribute to the next generation of satellite communications. The ideal candidate will have a solid educational background in engineering, with experience in testing telecommunications systems and strong skills in high-frequency circuits and RF systems. This role requires excellent debugging abilities and programming skills in Python, alongside hands-on experience with advanced testing tools and methodologies.
We are seeking a Senior Validation Engineer with a strong focus on converter validation. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the next generation of satellite communications at a time when the industry is experiencing significant technological transformation.
Reporting to the Chip Validation Team Leader, the Senior Validation Engineer will:
Focus on validation of high-speed converters, including performance, power consumption, and frequency-domain behavior
Validate high-frequency analog and mixed-signal IPs
Verify chipsets against functional and performance metrics
Develop and own chip-level and system-level test plans in collaboration with design and test teams
Build test automation for chip and system validation using Python
Investigate test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions with design and development teams
Execute, develop, and plan chip and system tests, contributing to overall product quality improvements
Support test management tools and continuous integration workflows
Perform data analysis and post-processing of collected test data
Test and debug ETTC-related functionality
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering
Experience testing telecommunications or satellite systems
Strong background in high-frequency circuits, RF systems, and high-speed communication blocks
Hands-on experience validating converters (ADC/DAC), including power consumption and high-speed signal behavior
Knowledge of high-speed time-domain links (e.g., SERDES) and associated equipment (BERT, DCA)
Proven programming experience in automated test environments (C/C++/Python, etc.)
Excellent debugging and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and root-cause complex issues
Experience planning, estimating, and developing system-level tests
Familiarity with defect-tracking and knowledge-management tools (JIRA, Confluence preferred)
Understanding of test methodologies
Proficiency with RF and high-frequency test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, VNAs/PNA systems, signal generators, power meters, and high-speed sampling oscilloscopes
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of RF fundamentals and communication theory
Independent, self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of multitasking
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
