Job summary

SoCode Limited in Cambridge, UK is seeking a Senior RF Test Engineer to lead measurement, characterization and validation of advanced RF products. You will design robust RF test setups, perform 3GPP-based LTE/NR measurements, and drive automation through Python or MATLAB to improve repeatability and data integrity in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role requires hands-on RF testing experience, strong fundamentals, and the ability to mentor engineers while delivering high-performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience in RF testing, characterisation, and validation of RF systems or modules.
  • Practical experience performing 3GPP-based measurements for cellular systems (LTE and/or NR).
  • Solid understanding of RF fundamentals, including S-parameters, impedance matching, gain, noise figure, and linearity.
  • Proficiency with RF laboratory equipment such as vector network analysers (VNAs), spectrum analysers, and signal generators.
  • Experience developing automated, repeatable RF test environments using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Ability to interpret RF schematics, debug hardware, and evaluate RF system trade-offs through practical laboratory testing.
  • Experience maintaining RF laboratory environments, including equipment calibration, test infrastructure, and measurement best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RF characterisation and validation activities, conducting detailed measurements to evaluate and optimise product performance.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, repeatable RF test setups for the characterisation of RF modules and systems.
  • Perform and analyse 3GPP-aligned RF measurements (LTE and/or NR) to assess transmitter and receiver performance.
  • Provide measurement-driven feedback to RF design and systems teams, ensuring strong correlation between simulation, design expectations, and hardware performance.
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts to improve measurement efficiency, repeatability, and data integrity.
  • Define and maintain RF measurement methodologies, laboratory best practices, and documentation standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex RF measurement setups and hardware issues, supporting development and design reviews with technical measurement insights.
  • Maintain the RF laboratory environment, including test infrastructure, equipment calibration, and measurement best practices.

We are seeking an experienced Senior RF Test Engineer to join a growing development team based in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you will lead the measurement, characterisation, and validation of advanced RF products, providing critical data and insight to support RF design and systems engineering teams. You will play a key role in ensuring strong correlation between simulation and hardware performance while driving improvements in RF test methodologies, automation, and laboratory best practices. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys solving complex measurement challenges, defining test strategies, and contributing directly to the successful delivery of high-performance RF modules.

Key Responsibilities
