Job summary

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Acute Oncology Nurse to join the Cancer Services team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on acute oncology care, MUO and CUP pathways, with MDT collaboration to deliver timely, patient-centered care.

The successful applicant will provide specialist assessments, triage referrals, coordinate care, and support education across clinical teams to enhance knowledge and confidence in managing acute oncology patients.

Qualifications

• Requires oncology experience.
• Strong organisational, time management and communication skills.
• Experience in acute oncology care is essential.

Responsibilities

• Triage AO, MUO and CUP referrals from primary care and internal hospital teams.
• Undertake specialist assessment of acute oncology patients and develop care plans.
• Manage and coordinate a patient caseload with autonomous clinical decision-making.
• Coordinate AO, MUO and CUP pathways with MDT Lead and wider teams.
• Provide specialist advice to patients, families and healthcare professionals.
• Educate clinical teams to improve knowledge and confidence in managing acute oncology.
