Are you a skilled Acoustic Consultant with experience in Environmental Noise? AWN Consulting is seeking a Senior Acoustic Consultant to join our team. As Ireland’s premier specialist acoustic consultancy, our team includes 18 technical staff based in Ireland, the UK and Spain and is part of the wider Built Environment team within Trinity Consultants Inc., with acoustics colleagues around the world.

Position Overview

AWN is expanding its Acoustics Team and is currently seeking an experienced Senior Acoustic Consultant. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team, leading challenging and exciting projects spanning infrastructure, renewable energy, datacentres, residential developments and manufacturing facilities. The Senior Acoustic Consultant will drive project success, delivering on time for our clients. A strong balance of technical expertise and project management skills, plus excellent communication and writing abilities, is essential. The position is available as a hybrid role, and remote applications are welcome from the UK; occasional travel to our Dublin office will be required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Acoustic Consultant, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Manage projects from inception to completion including project finances.
  • Technical coordination of acoustic assessments.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Providing direction to team members and sub-consultants, ensuring high standards and effective project delivery.
  • Communicating with clients, team members, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with all project requirements and up-to-date standards.
  • Work proactively on the development of new business and clients.
  • Developing strategies, proposals and advice to address and anticipate client needs.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience working in the consulting sector as an acoustic consultant on infrastructure, renewable energy, datacentre or other large projects requiring EIAR.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum BSc or BA (Hons) degree in engineering, environmental science or related discipline.
  • Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA).
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to lead initiatives.
  • Candidates must be familiar with current acoustic standards and be familiar with acoustic modelling and calculation software and acoustic instrumentation.
  • High attention to detail, excellent report writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to assemble various strands of complex data into clear, concise outputs.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience / Desirable Skills
  • Experience with environmental noise and vibration field work.
  • Experience with Predictor and iNoise, or equivalent software.
  • Experience with producing noise & vibration chapters for EIAR documents.
  • Experience acting as an expert witness at public enquiries/oral hearings.
  • Experience preparing EPA license applications for an industrial emissions license.
