Job description

Want to work with the most sought-after minds and most-talked about projects? Your experience in Acoustic and Electro Acoustics Engineering might just make you our new Senior Acoustic Consultant.

The successful candidate will join Vanguardia Acoustics team and will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions and strategic insights to our clients within the sports and entertainment sectors.

The purpose of this role is to provide vital support to the success of the acoustics team to deliver our clients projects. We have a number of growing projects in the pipeline and are looking to recruit a senior/associate consultant.

You will lead project teams to successful project completion, ensuring projects are delivered with technical excellence meeting quality standards, deadlines and financial targets.

Your next role:

  • Lead and manage complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Provide expert advice and consultancy services to clients, leveraging industry knowledge and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research to support project objectives and client needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Work as part of a single or multi-disciplinary team attending and chairing meetings with architects, planners, contractors, government agencies etc. in an advisory capacity.
  • Propose multiple solutions to challenges, being able to articulate the benefits and shortfalls of each to the client, taking into consideration other disciplines requirements within these solutions.
  • Produce insightful reports, presentations, models and drawings as requested by the client to an excellent technical standard, high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Be familiar and comply with all Buro Happold’s internal quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance of ongoing learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Maintain market knowledge of industry-leading technologies.
  • Ongoing development of our design tools, including Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper and Dynamo.
  • Must be able to clearly share complex technical ideas and concepts with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent calculation skills and attention to detail in checking others' calculations.
  • Inquisitive approach and capable of producing innovative solutions.
  • Driven to produce highest quality work that meets Client needs.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Adaptable and prepared to offer a range of services in the long term.
  • Ability to accept a degree of responsibility for the department's success in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
  • Experience in our target and growth sectors (Sports & Entertainment) would be highly advantageous.
  • Degree in Engineering Acoustics, Electro-Acoustics or related disciplines such as Civil or Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architecture, combination degrees of the former.
  • Professionally registered (CEng, IEng) with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent body is advantageous.
  • Full corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics is expected.
