Job summary

Townends Accountants LLP in Goole is seeking an Accounts Manager to lead the accounts team and manage a portfolio of clients, including farming sector engagements. You will supervise trainees and deliver high-quality accounts and tax compliance work while mentoring junior staff.

The role offers senior responsibility, client liaison, and opportunities to expand services beyond compliance. A strong technical background and excellent communication are essential for success in this busy practice.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA qualification or qualified by experience with at least two years at manager level gained in an accounting practice.
• Experience of preparation/review of sole trader, partnership and limited company accounts, tax computations and personal and partnership tax returns. A good working knowledge of preparing farming accounts is desirable.
• Ability to manage portfolio work in progress levels and undertake client billing.
• A good working knowledge of income, corporation and capital gains taxes.
• Sound IT skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage deadlines and prioritise work effectively.
• Excellent soft skills including written, spoken communications, problem solving and people/client relationship management.
• Ability to work with people at all levels.
• Current driving licence.

Responsibilities

• This is a senior role in the accounts department based in Goole, managing a portfolio of clients and working closely with team members to manage the department generally.
• The work primarily involves the delivery of a wide range of timely, high quality accounts and tax compliance assignments for clients (including a significant number within the farming industry).
• The role also requires supervision and mentoring of trainees.
• While the focus is on compliance, there are opportunities to significantly expand the range and breadth of experience through direct engagement with clients, attending and leading meetings, adhoc projects and working as part of a team.
