Sheridan Maine is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing daily accounting activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting budgeting and audit processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and a deep understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Review and approve accounts payable/receivable entries and payroll transactions as needed.
  • Guide and mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of financial systems or tools.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
  • CPA certification (active or in progress).
  • Experience in public accounting or a corporate finance environment.
  • Familiarity with tax filings, regulatory compliance, and industry-specific accounting standards.
