Job summary

Service Care Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Senior Accountant – Capital on a temporary basis to manage financial monitoring, forecasting and governance for a diverse portfolio of capital projects. The role requires a fully qualified accountant with substantial local authority experience and strong business partnering skills.

You will lead reporting on expenditure, funding streams, and risks while advising project managers and governance boards on capital investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in a local authority finance environment.
• Proven experience of capital accounting, capital programme management, grant funding, capital financing and the preparation of capital-related statutory accounts disclosures.
• Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, directors, members and project boards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial monitoring, forecasting and governance of major capital projects, ensuring accurate reporting of expenditure, funding streams, risks and project performance.
• Provide strategic financial advice and business partnering support to project managers, senior officers, directors and governance boards on capital investment decisions and project delivery.
• Support the management of the Council’s capital programme, including capital financing, grant claims, external funding compliance, asset register updates and year-end capital accounting.
• Prepare financial reports, options appraisals and statutory returns, while ensuring compliance with local government regulations, CIPFA codes and financial best practice.

Senior Accountant – Capital. Location: our client. Contract: Temporary (5 months). Salary: £32.54 per hour umbrella / £29.17 PAYE Inclusive / £26.03 PAYE Exclusive. Start Date: ASAP.

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority for a Senior Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will play a key role in the financial management, governance and oversight of a diverse portfolio of high-profile capital projects and funding programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial monitoring, forecasting and governance of major capital projects, ensuring accurate reporting of expenditure, funding streams, risks and project performance.
