Job summary

Castle Accountancy in York is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its growing team. This role covers a varied general practice portfolio across accounts, tax and advisory work, with opportunities to manage client relationships and take ownership of assignments.

The ideal candidate will be technically strong, proactive and comfortable liaising directly with clients, with potential for progression toward management and Partner-level responsibilities.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent professional qualification
• Several years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed clients
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Carrying out business and personal tax computations and returns
• Bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounts when needed
• Providing practical accounting and tax guidance to business owners
• Ensuring timely completion of assignments
• Identifying opportunities for additional advisory work

Education

An established and growing accountancy practice in York is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team.

This is a varied general practice role, working with a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients across accounts, tax and wider advisory work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, manage assignments independently and provide practical advice to help businesses grow.

The firm is looking for someone technically strong, proactive and confident dealing directly with clients, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and progress towards a management level position over time.
