Job summary

Puro Associates is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Huddersfield team. This role offers an excellent progression path for an experienced practice accountant in a friendly, client-focused environment.

You will prepare statutory accounts, tax returns, and provide insightful management information while supporting digital accounting transitions for clients. AAT/ACA/ACCA/QBE qualifications and Xero/Sage/Dext experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or be studying towards ACA or ACCA or QBE.
• Experience preparing accounts and tax returns in practice.
• Strong attention to detail and client-focused service.
• Excellent time-management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for clients including SMEs and sole traders.
• Prepare Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment returns on time.
• Produce management reports and client financial information.
• Assist with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and digital processes.
• Build and maintain professional client relationships.
• Provide accounting and tax guidance and respond to queries.
• Ensure deadlines are met and work is compliant with standards.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our team in Huddersfield.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Prepare Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment Tax returns accurately and within required deadlines.
• Produce management reports and financial information for clients.
• Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and the transition to digital accounting processes.
• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients.
• Provide clients with appropriate accounting and tax advice and respond confidently to queries.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent client experience.
• Manage your workload effectively, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with firm and regulatory standards.
• Keep up to date with relevant accounting, tax and regulatory developments.

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and confident working directly with clients.
You will ideally have:

• AAT qualification or be studying towards ACA or ACCA or QBE.
• Previous experience preparing accounts and tax returns within an accountancy practice.
• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage and Dext.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• The confidence to manage a varied workload and work to deadlines.
