Job summary

bk plus is seeking an experienced accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and drive growth in the practice. You will act as the main contact and trusted adviser across owner-managed businesses, handling accounts, tax returns, VAT, and client relationships with autonomy.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering statutory accounts for multiple entities.
• Experience completing corporation tax and self-assessment returns.
• VAT returns handling and VAT advice.
• Strong client relationship management and time management.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
• Preparing corporation tax returns and self-assessment tax returns.
• Handling VAT returns and advising on VAT treatment.
• Managing files from start to finish, producing work for partner review with minimal rework.
• Building strong client relationships, communicating proactively.
• Mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members.
• Staying current with regulatory changes, including MTD for Income Tax.
• Contributing to the practice's growth by identifying opportunities to add value for clients.

About the job

We're looking for an experienced accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth of the practice. For the right person, this role offers a long-term career path as the practice grows. You'll inherit an established portfolio of owner managed businesses across a wide range of sectors, acting as their main point of contact and trusted advisor. You'll manage your clients from start to finish. Day to day, that means:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A), sole traders, and partnerships
• Preparing corporation tax returns and self-assessment tax returns
• Handling VAT returns and advising on VAT treatment
• Managing your files from start to finish, producing work that is ready for partner review with minimal rework
• Building strong client relationships, managing expectations, and communicating proactively
• Mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members
• Staying current with regulatory changes, including MTD for Income Tax
• Contributing to the practice's growth by identifying opportunities to add value for clients

This is a senior, hands-on role. You'll have autonomy over your workload and direct client relationships, and we'll look to you to lead by example on quality and client service.
