Job Title: Senior Account Manager - Higher Education
Location: Remote/National Travel Required

Our client is a leading provider of technology solutions to Higher Education institutions across the UK. They are an award-winning platform that supports universities in delivering financial support to students and other beneficiaries. The platform saves universities time and effort, delivers an enriched beneficiary experience, and is currently adopted by 39 UK HE providers.

Role Overview

To support our growth ambitions, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Account Manager to lead efforts in growing the value of our existing client base. Responsibilities include delivering growth, managing key client relationships, and team leadership—guiding, supporting, and providing strategic direction to a team of about 6 account managers. While the primary focus is on developing and expanding existing accounts, there will also be opportunities for business development and securing new accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Formulate and implement account management plans to meet revenue growth and targets; develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders across HE institutions; serve as the escalated contact point, ensuring client satisfaction and contract retention; lead performance reviews and strategic planning meetings; influence clients to maximize platform services for funding.

Strategic Growth:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align offerings with client needs; analyze market trends and competitor activity; work with leadership to develop and implement national sales strategies for the HE sector; support and develop account managers; foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture; support onboarding and training of new team members; ensure consistent client engagement, reporting, and account planning standards.

Revenue & Performance Management:

  • Achieve and surpass sales targets and KPIs; maintain accurate CRM records; drive operational efficiencies and process improvements within the team.

Business Development:

  • Collaborate on product development and positioning to maximize adoption; develop new contacts at non-adopting universities and support conversion efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven senior account management or business development experience, preferably within Higher Education, EdTech, or Payment services sectors.
  • Successful management of national client portfolios with revenue growth achievements.
  • Experience in team leadership or mentoring, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build trust with senior stakeholders in HE or related sectors; experience influencing Finance stakeholders is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working remotely and traveling across the UK.
  • Self-motivated, strategic, results-oriented.
