Job summary

Nottingham Forest is seeking a Lead Psychologist to deliver psychology services across the Academy, focusing on the Boys Pathway, loans and transition. You will collaborate with staff from Men’s First Team and Academy programs to ensure a clear, supportive pathway for players and staff.

You will manage the Academy Psychologist team (U9s–U18s), develop IDP Mind Sections, and drive a strategic mental health agenda within a top-flight football environment.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Psychology or Sport Psychology.
• HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).
• FA Safeguarding Children certification or equivalent.
• Experience in elite sport environments.
• Experience in academy football and player development.
• Experience supporting athletes, coaches and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience managing transitions and long-term athlete development.

Responsibilities

• Lead Psychologist focusing on Boys Pathway (FP, YDP, PDP) development.
• Oversee development and performance of B Team players and staff via 1:1s and group sessions.
• Support loan players and transition to first team or other clubs.
• Assist onboarding of new signings and progression for B Team players.
• Lead B Team IDP Mind Sections using grading and observations.
• Manage Academy Psychologist (U9s–U18s) and deliver the syllabus.
• Lead academy-wide transition strategy and MDT collaboration.
• Assist retention/release decisions with Senior staff.
• Collaborate on Alumni programme development and after-care support.
• Contribute to safeguarding and mental health initiatives (SWEP).
