Job summary

Sulzer Pumps (UK) Ltd. is hiring for a CNC Machinist to set up, operate and monitor 5-axis machining centres in our Leeds facility.

You will work from engineering drawings to produce components, perform in-process inspection and complete quality paperwork to ensure dimensional accuracy. The role emphasizes maintaining high standards of safety and quality, supporting production targets, and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Vocational training or apprenticeship in CNC machining.
• Proven experience operating and setting 5-axis CNC machining centres.
• Desirable Mazak 5-axis machining centres and Mazatrol controls.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and measurement data.
• Strong mechanical/technical aptitude with attention to detail.
• Experience with measuring equipment and quality control processes.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and monitor 5-axis CNC machining centres.
• Carry out in-process inspection and document quality records.
• Complete associated inspection records and quality paperwork accurately.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining or production issues and escalate as needed.
• Maintain machines, tooling and work areas to a high standard.
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures and report hazards.
• Work with colleagues and other departments to meet production targets.
• Support and share knowledge with less experienced team members.
