Job summary

Blackwell Earthmoving Limited, part of Hargreaves Services Plc, seeks a 3D Machine Controls & Modelling Specialist to support major earthworks across UK infrastructure projects. You will manage 3D machine control models, GNSS networks and survey control to ensure accuracy and efficiency on site.

Working with engineers, surveyors and plant operators, you will drive model quality, data integration and training, while adhering to safety and environmental standards across busy project sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in surveying, machine control or earthworks engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Trimble Earthworks machine control systems.
• Experience with GNSS and Total Station surveying equipment.
• Proficient at creating and managing 3D machine control models.
• Familiar with Trimble Business Centre (TBC) or similar modelling software.
• Understanding of earthworks operations, bulk excavation and material management.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and digital design information.
• Excellent communication with site teams and plant operators.
• UK driving licence and willingness to travel between projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain 3D machine control systems across a fleet of earthmoving plant.
• Configure, calibrate and validate machine control equipment for site accuracy.
• Create, convert and upload design models into machine control software.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for machine control hardware and software.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks across the project.
• Set up and manage GNSS base stations and site positioning systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and surveying teams to implement models.
• Produce earthworks volume calculations and progress reports.
• Generate as-built survey records and verification reports.
• Deliver operator training and ensure HSE compliance.
