Job summary

Polaris Children’s Services is seeking a SENDIASS Support Worker to join our Richmond and Kingston team on a fixed-term contract. You will provide confidential, impartial one-to-one information and support to parents, carers and young people with SEND, helping them navigate EHCPs, tribunals and related procedures.

The role requires knowledge of SEND law or willingness to train, excellent communication, and the ability to work with local boroughs and diverse communities.

Qualifications

• qualification in SEND law or IPSEA SEN Law Training
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong knowledge of the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames
• Personal or professional experience in a leadership position
• Confident working with Outlook, Microsoft packages and databases

Responsibilities

• Provide individual support to a caseload of children and young people with SEND and/or their parents
• Support customers with EHCP applications, SEND tribunals, attendance issues, social care provision, exclusions and SEN support
• Explain documents, co-writing applications, attend meetings or mediation with the customer, monitor deadlines and support or represent at SENDIST appeals
• Explain and refer to SEND legislation and policy when advising or supporting
• Signpost to translation services, accessible forms and emotional support as required
• Cultivate professional relationships with Local Authority SEN teams to achieve swift outcomes
• Contribute to development of content and resources for the SENDIASS website and social media
