Naphill and Walters Ash School, part of Buckinghamshire Council, seeks a confident SENDCo to lead inclusion, shape provision, support staff and partner with families while staying connected to the classroom through teaching.
The role includes a teaching commitment and leadership responsibilities; balance will be agreed with the successful candidate. Term time only, fixed-term to August 2027.
We are looking for a confident, ambitious and thoughtful practitioner who wants to make a real difference — not just maintain what already works.
If you believe inclusion belongs at the heart of a school (not filed away in a policy), and you're someone who is curious, reflective and keen to keep getting better, then this might be the role for you.
You’ll lead SEND across the school — but this isn’t just about systems and paperwork. You’ll shape provision, support staff, work closely with families, and stay connected to the classroom through teaching.
We believe SEND leadership is strongest when it remains connected to the classroom, so this role will include a teaching commitment. The exact balance of leadership and teaching responsibilities will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Put simply: you’ll have real influence, and real responsibility.
Term time only: Yes
Salary type: MPS/UPS
Salary Details: MPS/UPS + SENDCo Allowance
Contract type: Fixed term to August 2027
Hours: Full-time/Part-time
Interviews to be held: Week commencing 19th October
At Naphill and Walters Ash School, we value high standards and achievement. We encourage our children to think independently, make links in their learning and to respect the world they live in. Most of all, we encourage children to have a positive approach to learning as this is something that they can then take with them wherever they go.
This role comes with both challenge and opportunity.
We are committed to ensuring that every child thrives and know that truly inclusive practice is something schools should continually reflect on and develop. As SENDCo, you’ll have the opportunity to build on existing strengths, influence whole-school practice and help shape the next stage of our inclusive journey. You’ll be supported by a committed team and a Headteacher who understands the role from experience, while being encouraged to bring your own ideas, expertise and leadership.
For further information please see attached Job description.
You’ll need QTS and either hold, or be working towards, the NPQSENDCO or National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) — and we would be happy to support the right candidate in gaining this qualification.
Visits to the school are warmly welcome. To arrange a visit or to find out more about the role, please contact our school office on the number below.
Naphill & Walters Ash School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS and qualifications check will be carried out upon appointment of the successful candidate.
