Job summary

Gloucester Academy seeks a SENDCO to lead our provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. You will work alongside our existing SENDCO to coordinate support, collaborate with families, staff and external professionals, and promote inclusion across the school.

The role focuses on identifying SEND needs, reviewing the SEND Register, developing policies, liaising with agencies, and supporting staff with Learning and Behaviour Plans while delivering high-quality teaching.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) held.
• Good honours degree with relevant postgraduate studies preferred.
• SEND qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Trauma-informed training is a bonus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification and monitoring of SEND needs within the school.
• Maintain and review the SEND Register and placement of pupils.
• Share SEND information with staff and review SEND policies for best provision.
• Meet with parents and pupils to set up and review SEND Support plans.
• Liaise with external professionals and agencies as needed.
• Contribute to planning for evidence-based SEND strategies and outcomes.
• Support staff with Learning Plans and Behaviour Plans, maintaining records.
• Undertake assessments of specific learning needs as required.
• Carry out Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead duties.
