Job summary

Outwood Academy Acklam in Middlesbrough is seeking an outstanding SENDCo to raise standards for students with special educational needs. You will work alongside the existing SENDCo and Inclusion team to develop practice and ensure positive life chances for learners.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS and be a qualified SENDCo with a proven track record in supporting SEN pupils and managing staff. Strong communication with parents and professionals is essential to deliver effective provision.

Qualifications

Working alongside the existing SENDCo, this role is a key appointment in ensuring the positive life chances of our students through success and achievement.

As such we are keen to recruit a dedicated and ambitious professional who will add value to the academy. A passion for supporting our most vulnerable students and those with barriers to learning is essential. This outstanding individual will provide expert advice, modelled through outstanding teaching to develop the practice of all staff and will work closely with our dedicated inclusion team to support our students.

The SENDCo role requires Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and being a Qualified SENDCo. Essential experience includes substantial teaching and a proven track record of success with all SEN pupil groups.

The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in staff management, working cooperatively with parents and other professionals, and planning/delivering a professional development programme.

Key skills required include a strong knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusion best practice, and pastoral care. They need a sound understanding of the National Curriculum and strategies to support children with special needs. Finally, the role requires effective communication, prioritizing work, and a commitment to the Trust's "Students First" ethos.
