Leadership Opportunity | Inclusive Education | Make a Lasting Difference

Are you an experienced SENDCO passionate about ensuring every young person receives the support, guidance and opportunities they need to succeed?

We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious SENDCO to join a forward-thinking secondary academy in Tottenham. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed SEND professional to lead inclusive practice, develop effective support strategies and ensure students with special educational needs and disabilities are able to thrive both academically and socially.

About the School

This ambitious, all-through academy has a strong belief in the potential of every pupil and is committed to helping young people develop their academic abilities, character and confidence. With a focus on high expectations, achievement and personal development, the school aims to ensure that every student is supported to reach their full potential.

Its approach to SEND centres on recognising individual learning differences and ensuring that teaching is appropriately adapted to meet students' needs. The academy provides additional classroom support, specialist advice and a dedicated learning resource base where students can access targeted interventions appropriate to their needs.

This is an opportunity to join a school where inclusion is an important part of its educational vision and where you can make a meaningful contribution to the progress and wellbeing of students with additional needs.

The Role

As SENDCO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for special educational needs provision across the secondary phase, ensuring that students receive appropriate support and that inclusive practice is embedded throughout the school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's SEND provision.
  • Ensuring the effective identification and assessment of students with additional needs.
  • Overseeing the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Working closely with teachers to ensure lessons are differentiated and accessible to students with a range of learning needs.
  • Supporting and developing staff expertise in inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive practice.
  • Coordinating targeted interventions and monitoring their impact on student progress.
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, external agencies and specialist professionals.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory responsibilities.
  • Monitoring the quality of SEND provision and using assessment information to inform improvements.
  • Working collaboratively with senior leaders and pastoral teams to promote positive outcomes for students.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced and committed education professional who combines strong SEND expertise with excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

You will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND in a secondary school setting.
  • The relevant SENDCO qualification, or a willingness and eligibility to undertake the required training, where applicable.
  • A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCPs and statutory responsibilities.
  • Experience working with teachers to develop inclusive classroom practice and appropriate interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum adaptation, assessment and strategies to improve student progress.
  • The ability to work effectively with parents, carers, external agencies and senior leaders.
  • A proactive approach to identifying barriers to learning and developing practical solutions.
Why Apply?
  • A school with a clear inclusive vision: Join an academy that believes in the potential of every pupil and is committed to helping students achieve their best.
  • An established SEND framework: Build on provision that includes additional classroom support, specialist input and a dedicated learning resource base.
  • An opportunity to influence practice: Help develop staff expertise and strengthen inclusive teaching across the secondary phase.
  • A collaborative environment: Work alongside teaching, pastoral and senior leadership colleagues to improve outcomes for students.
  • Professional development: Access opportunities to develop your leadership and expertise within a wider educational organisation.
