Job summary

AWD Online is seeking a SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) to lead and coordinate a supported internship programme for young people with an EHCP. The role combines tutoring, teaching, and programme development to prepare learners for paid employment.

The ideal candidate will have post-16 education teaching qualifications, assessor award, and a track record in delivering inclusive learning. The position is part-time, fixed-term to 30 July 2027, with 22 hours 12 minutes per week.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience within the post-19 education environment
  • Current qualification to teach within the post-16 education sector

Responsibilities

  • Act as tutor and co-ordinator for the supported internship programme, supporting learners to develop skills for paid employment
  • Undertake teaching and/or assessment as agreed, supporting high-quality learning and learner progression
  • Assist with the development and implementation of adult community learning programmes within a defined locality and theme
  • Support the monitoring and improvement of teaching and learning, including observations and follow-up actions
  • Oversee appropriate adaptations for learners with SEND, helping ensure learning is accessible and inclusive
  • Liaise with partner agencies, families, employers, colleagues and other stakeholders to support programme outcomes
  • Contribute to quality assurance, self-assessment, improvement planning and internal quality processes
  • Support tutors and delivery staff through supervision, advice, motivation, training and development support
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to safeguarding and safe learner procedures and protocols

SEND Tutor (Supported Internship)

An excellent opportunity for an education professional with teaching, assessment and learner support experience to help deliver a supported internship programme that prepares young people with an EHCP for paid employment.

SALARY: £32,347 to £34,317 pro rata (Grade 9) (Actual Salary for Part-Time Hours is: £19,408 to £20,590 per annum + Benefits)

LOCATION: Chatsworth, Derbyshire, East Midlands

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Contract (Fixed Term - Due to finite funding until 30 July 2027)

WORKING HOURS: 22 hours and 12 minutes per week, Monday to Friday Daytime

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) to act as tutor and co-ordinator for a supported internship programme for young people with an Educational Health Care Plan.

As a SEND Tutor (Supported Internship), you will support learners to develop the skills, confidence and readiness needed to progress towards paid employment, working closely with partner agencies, families, delivery staff and the host business.

The SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) will also contribute to programme development, teaching and learning improvement, quality assurance, safeguarding, SEND adaptations and the monitoring of learner achievement and progression.

DUTIES

Your duties as the SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) include:

  • Programme Delivery: Act as tutor and co-ordinator for the supported internship programme, supporting learners to develop skills for paid employment
  • Teaching and Assessment: Undertake teaching and/or assessment as agreed, supporting high-quality learning and learner progression
