Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist post-16 provision in Cheltenham seeking an SEN Tutor to start in September 2026. This full-time, long-term role involves delivering personalised learning sessions, assessing starting points and tracking progress for students with complex needs.

You will collaborate with other professionals, contribute to practical learning goals such as Digital Literacy and Emotional Wellbeing, and help young people prepare for adult life in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting young people with SEND, complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Experience planning and delivering individualised learning activities.
• An understanding of post-16 education and preparing young people for adulthood.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other professionals.
• A creative, proactive and adaptable approach to teaching.

Job Title: SEND Tutor
Location: Cheltenham
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £145 - £230 per day

Are you an SEN Tutor with experience supporting young people with complex learning needs and disabilities?

Can you deliver engaging, individualised learning that helps young people develop greater confidence and independence?

Do you have the communication and teamwork skills to work alongside other professionals to support each student's individual development?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist post-16 provision in Cheltenham that supports young people with a variety of additional needs, including Autism / ASD, Acquired Brain Injuries / ABI, sensory impairments, physical disabilities and multiple learning difficulties. The setting provides a supportive environment where education is focused on helping students develop practical skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for adult life.

The provision is looking to appoint an SEN Tutor on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. The successful SEN Tutor will create and deliver personalised learning sessions, establish students' individual starting points and monitor their ongoing development, with experience in areas such as Digital Literacy, Emotional Wellbeing, Forest School, Relationship and Sex Education, Social Enterprise or Work Related Learning particularly welcomed.

The successful SEN Tutor will have:

• A relevant teaching qualification

• Experience supporting young people with SEND, complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities

• Experience planning and delivering individualised learning activities

• An understanding of post-16 education and preparing young people for adulthood

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other professionals

• A creative, proactive and adaptable approach to teaching
