Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking SEND Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition for pupils with additional educational needs across the North East.

Sessions can take place in homes, community venues, libraries, or other settings with flexible hours to fit around your availability.

Ideal candidates include qualified teachers, SEND specialists or experienced tutors; safeguarding training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Qualified teachers, SEND specialists, or experienced tutors with tuition experience.
• Flexible, local work across Jesmond, Heaton, Gosforth, Wallsend and nearby areas.
• Commitment to safeguarding and student-centered learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions tailored to each pupil's needs.
• Adapt teaching methods for learners with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Monitor progress and record outcomes for families and professionals.
• Liaise with families and professionals where required.
• Provide engaging, creative sessions and maintain a positive attitude towards learning.

Protocol Education is looking for dedicated SEND Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition for pupils who require additional educational support outside of mainstream school settings. This is a rewarding opportunity to help learners regain confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve meaningful academic progress.

Opportunities are available across Jesmond, Heaton, Gosforth, Wallsend, North Shields, Blyth, Morpeth, Cramlington, Alnwick and surrounding areas.

About the Role

As a SEND Tutor, you will work closely with individual pupils, creating bespoke learning programmes tailored to their unique needs and educational goals.

Many pupils you support may have:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• ADHD
• SEMH needs
• Anxiety and school avoidance
• EHCPs
• Gaps in education requiring targeted intervention

Tuition sessions can take place in homes, community venues, libraries, or alternative education settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging 1:1 learning sessions
• Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners
• Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
• Develop positive relationships that encourage engagement
• Inspire confidence and a positive attitude towards learning
• Monitor progress and record outcomes
• Liaise with families and professionals where required
