Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Wakefield primary schools on a supply basis. Opportunities range from day-to-day to longer-term assignments starting in September, with the role placing you in friendly, inclusive schools that value wellbeing and community.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils, coordinating with the class teacher and SENCO to implement effective strategies and promote a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a Primary School or similar setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and achieve targets.
  • Collaborate with class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies in an inclusive classroom.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies to ensure pupil safety and wellbeing.

We're currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join on supply in Primary Schools in and around Wakefield in on a long or short-term basis starting in September. This role is on a supply basis and could either be Day-2-Day work or a Longer-Term position depending on preference.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and achieve their individual targets.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development, encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of all pupils by following safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
Requirements or Skills:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a Primary School or similar educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach with excellent communication skills.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the Right to Work in the UK.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
