Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Wimborne, starting October 2026. This full-time, term-time only role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils aged 4–19 with SEND, including ASC, SEMH and ADHD. Competitive daily pay and a supportive team are offered.

The role focuses on personalised learning, behaviour support, and developing independence and communication skills within a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Has a good understanding of ASC, SEMH, ADHD or communication needs.
• Is calm, patient, resilient and consistent.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND.
• Support pupils to access learning and achieve their EHCP targets.
• Assist with personalised learning programmes and interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Encourage communication, independence and confidence.
• Provide consistency, structure and reassurance throughout the school day.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider professionals.
• Help maintain a safe, calm and supportive learning environment.
