Job summary

Teach Now Limited is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a diverse primary school in Hertfordshire. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external specialists to deliver personalised help to pupils with SEND.

You will support emotional regulation, communication and social skills, follow EHCPs, and use visual timetables and other resources. A calm, patient approach and safeguarding commitment are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting primary children with SEND, especially autism, SEMH or complex needs.
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support.
  • Strong communication skills and flexibility to work across year groups.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting activities to pupils needs.
  • Follow EHCPs, individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, sensory needs and social skills.
  • Use visual timetables, now-and-next boards and other personalised resources.
  • Help pupils manage transitions and less structured times, including breaktimes.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with teachers and the SENCo.
