Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves is helping a Good-rated primary school in Thurrock recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils from Nursery to Year 6 within a two-form entry environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, including those on the autism spectrum, working with teachers to tailor learning and promote engagement, and helping to foster positive behaviour and independence within a safe, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience within a primary school – essential
• Experience supporting children with autism would be highly desirable
• A nurturing, patient and proactive approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Supporting pupils with autism and a range of additional needs
• Working alongside teachers to adapt learning and encourage engagement
• Promoting positive behaviour, confidence and independence
• Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
• Working closely with the SENCo, teachers and wider support staff
