Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Eccles from November. You will support pupils with complex needs, helping them access personalised learning activities and develop independence, with a patient and flexible approach.

Responsibilities include one-to-one and small-group support, promoting communication and life skills, and working closely with teachers and other professionals to monitor progress in a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional needs.
• A patient, nurturing and flexible approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to recognise and respond to different communication styles, including non-verbal communication.
• Confidence supporting pupils with varying levels of independence.
• Understanding of dignity and privacy when providing personal care.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils' wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group assistance during lessons and activities.
• Supporting pupils with complex learning and developmental needs.
• Helping pupils access personalised learning activities and sensory experiences.
• Encouraging communication, interaction and engagement using appropriate strategies.
• Promoting independence and developing everyday life skills.
• Assisting with personal care, hygiene and toileting where required.
• Supporting mobility and physical needs in line with individual care plans and training.
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals to meet pupils' needs.
• Monitoring engagement and sharing observations about pupil progress.
• Maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment.
