Job summary

Coast and Vale Learning Trust is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Education Needs, including those with ASD. You will work closely with SENDCo and class teachers to monitor progress and wellbeing, building positive relationships and promoting independence within the school day.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience with ASD pupils is preferred, with initiative and proactive support.
• Ability to adapt communication to individual pupil needs.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with pupils and promote self-esteem and independence.
• Adapt communication to pupils with different needs; support social and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with development and delivery of individual education plans and progress updates.
• Support learning through differentiated activities inside/outside the classroom and cover short absences when needed.
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and barriers to learning.
• Support behaviour management according to school policy and safety guidelines.
• Communicate with parents under teacher direction and collaborate with colleagues and professionals.
