Job summary

Widewell Primary Academy in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs under the direction of the SENCO. You will promote inclusion, assist with pastoral care, and help create positive learning experiences in and beyond the classroom.

Applicants should have experience in a primary setting and SEND, with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred. A nurturing approach, strong communication skills, and teamwork are essential; safeguarding is a priority.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Positive and nurturing approach to behaviour management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, staff and external professionals.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND under the direction of the SENCO.
  • Contribute to inclusive practice and promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist with tailored learning activities and targeted provision.
  • Help create positive learning experiences in and beyond the classroom.
